Custom PITP Overview

INTRODUCTION

The People's Information Technology Programme (PITP), launched by the  Science & Information Technology Department, Government of Sindh, aims to enhance digital literacy and IT skills among the youth of Sindh, particularly in underprivileged and remote areas. By offering free, industry-relevant IT training and certifications, PITP bridges the digital divide and promotes economic growth and social inclusion.

To implement the programme, the S&IT department, Government of Sindh has partnered with three leading public sector universities i.e. Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, and Sukkur IBA University, Sukkur. These partnerships leverage the universities' infrastructure and expertise to deliver high-quality training, empowering thousands of learners, and driving socio-economic development in the region.

MOU SIGNING CEREMONY

Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, led the MOU Signing Ceremony for the People's Information Technology Program (PITP). The MoU was signed between the S&IT department, Government of Sindh and three major public sector universities (i.e. NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro, and Sukkur IBA University, Sukkur).

The goal of the programme is to improve IT skills among students in Sindh and help reduce poverty. It was decided that initially, the program will train 13,428 young people, with the Chief Minister, Sindh approving Rs. 500 million for this purpose.

UNIVERSITY VISION TOWARDS PITP

To increase the employability and to fill the supply gap for industry-ready skilled resource, a series of Human Capital Development Program through Information Science and Technology department, Government of Sindh, has been initiated. One of the said programs is going to equip the non-ICT graduates/under-graduates/equivalent (having Basic Computer and/or Programming Knowledge) with emerging technologies and soft skills by the ICT Faculty and Industry Professionals that will help them in enhancing the number and quality of HR workforce available to Pakistan IT.

1. What is the Peoples Information Technology Program (PITP)?+
The PITP is an initiative by the Sindh Government in collaboration with NED University Karachi, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro and Sukkur IBA University, Sukkur to provide free IT training and certification in high-demand skills, empowering youth with digital knowledge for improved career opportunities.
2. Which Universities are Offering PITP ?+
The People's Information Technology Program (PITP), supported by the Sindh Government, is being offered across Sindh by NED University Karachi, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro and Sukkur IBA University, Sukkur.
3. Who is Eligible to Apply for PITP?+
Youth aged 22 years or younger who have completed 12 years of education and are not currently enrolled in any full-time university degree program can apply.
4. Are PITP Courses are Free?+
Yes! PITP courses are fully funded by the Sindh Government, so there are no costs for eligible participants.
5. What Certification will I received upon Completion?+
Upon successful completion of your chosen course, you’ll receive a certification jointly approved by the Government of Sindh and the university where candidates are registered.
6. How long is Each Course?+
Each course runs for two months, with classes scheduled Monday to Friday, three hours per day.
7. Where will the training take place?+
Training will be conducted at PITP centers across Sindh through the above mentioned universities.
8. Can I enroll more than one course?+
Yes, participants are allowed to complete and receive certification of up to two courses. However, it’s required that the two courses are offered at different times or in different batches to avoid any overlap in schedules.
9. How do I apply for the PITP Program?+
Simply visit the website of university based on your region to register. Fill out the application form, and you’ll be notified about your application status.
10. Are there any exams or evaluation?+
Yes, each course includes assessments and project work to ensure skill development. A final evaluation will determine your certification status.
11. Can I join the PITP if I’m already a University Students?+
Students who are currently enrolled in a university degree program are not eligible for PITP certification.
